Accessibility
The Duisburg Zoo is easily accessible by wheelchair. All main paths are paved so that all enclosures are accessible. An escort is helpful on some inclines and in some animal houses where the floor is covered with bark mulch (Horn Bill House, Equatorium). The Koala House can be reached via a ramp.
Toilets with disabled facilities can be found at the aquarium, the seal playground and the Equatorium.

Wheelchairs can be borrowed free of charge at the main and side entrances upon leaving a deposit. Please note that wheelchairs must be returned by 5 p.m. in summer (March to October) and by 3:15 p.m. in winter (November to February). To reserve a wheelchair, please call 0203-604 44250 or email info@zoo-duisburg.de at least one business day before your scheduled zoo visit. Please indicate the date and time of the planned visit.
With baby at the zoo
You'll find changing tables in many places at the zoo, so you won't have to walk long distances with your child in case of an emergency. On the west side of the zoo, there are changing tables at the seal kiosk and at the aquarium. On the east side, there are changing tables near the Dolphinarium.

Roller handcarts
Pullable handcarts can be rented at the ticket office for a fee of € 5.00 and a deposit of € 20.00.
Please note that the return of the handcart must be done in time before the closing time of the ticket office, i.e. in summer by 5 pm and in winter by 3 pm. Unfortunately, it is not possible to reserve handcarts.
The following conditions apply to the rental of handcarts:
- The handcarts must be treated with care and any damage must be reported immediately to the ticket office.
- The carts must not be left unattended. In case of loss, the borrower is liable.
- The deposit will only be refunded on the day of rental until 5:00 pm or 3:00 pm at the cash desk upon presentation of the receipt and the handcart chip. The refund of the deposit is not possible on later days.
- Cart tickets may not be passed on to other visitors within the zoo. If the trolley is not returned, the deposit will be retained.
Gastronomy
The Africa Lodge is the zoo's main dining facility in the middle of the zoo grounds across from the Afrikanum, offering a variety of food, ice cream and beverages. The large self-service restaurant has over 300 outdoor and indoor seats overlooking the meerkat, zebra and red river hog enclosures.
The Bear Kiosk is located directly at the spectacled bear enclosure and offers a selection of small snacks, ice cream and drinks.
The Dolphin Kiosk with a large, partly covered and heated sun terrace and adjacent playground is located at the entrance and exit area of the Dolphinarium, so that zoo visitors can fortify themselves with small meals, snacks, ice cream and drinks before and after a dolphin show.
